Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.
From where come wars and fightings among you? come they not here, even of your lusts that war in your members? You lust, and have not: you kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: you fight and war, yet you have not, because you ask not. You ask, and receive not, because you ask amiss, that you may consume it upon your lusts. You adulterers and adulteresses, know you not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. Do you think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwells in us lusts to envy? But he gives more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resists the proud, but gives grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passes away, and the lust thereof: but he that does the will of God abides for ever.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
What is asked of us when we were in elementary school?, "What did you do on your summer vacation?" What a let down for a child when their parents are going through financial struggles? Still wanting to have something to say to your peers after you have taken a vacation, when they ask "Where did you go?" Is it because you wanted to go to Disney World?, Or because it would look like you have some money to others to go to Disney World? When ever you ask of God when you pray believe you shall receive them and you shall have them. But if you have envy and strife in your hearts, don't lie. You might want time alone with your family and with your God, but it might look to others like you didn't do anything great. That small desire which is pure, God has a plan for you (exceeding abundantly above all that you ask or think according to the power that works within you), but don't try to compete with the Jones.
